April 22, 2010 was the date when the EPA Rule went into affect requiring each company that performs work, which directly disturbs paint in a Pre-1978 home or target housing or building to have a Certified Renovator on staff and to train their non-certified workers on Lead Safe Work practices.
"Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children." As stated by the EPA.
Under the Rule - contractors must follow lead safe work practices which will allow you to:

- Minimize the creation of lead dust
- Leave the work area clean and safe for residents
